Blessedness of being a child of God

Blessedness of being a child of God

The Christian life is a life without limitations; as it promises physical and spiritual blessings.
1 John 3:1 Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.

Becoming a child of God is quite easy; Romans 10:9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved”, after which God release the spirit of his dear son into your heart calling God Abba Father Romans 8:15.

The major purpose for which God decided to be identified with us, wherein we called him our dear father, is for the redemption and the salvation of our souls.
And following this great blessing of salvation comes many spiritual blessings.

Ephesians 1:3 Blessed [be] the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly [places] in Christ:

1.   ACCEPTED IN THE BELOVED
Ephesians 1:5-6
5 having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will,
6 to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved.

At the very core of the Christian faith is the believe and an established truth of being born of God; becoming a child of God, and an heir to the throne of Grace and Mercy.
Of course, to an unbelieving mind, this simple truth that Christ has wrought for us in His death and resurrection may sound heretical and offensive.
However, the Biblical account coupled with the realities as seen in the manifestations of the sons these days entirely justifies this plain truth.

I considered this to be a blessing considering the nature of God (whom is our father), and the kind of identity and authority that is on us.

Further note:
The fall of man brings along with it the outright rejection of mankind;
Romans 5:12 wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

However, redemption comes to all in Christ Jesus:
24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:

In Christ Jesus who is the beloved of the father have we received forgiveness of sins, justified, accepted, glorified and sanctified.

NOTE: While Jesus was on earth, he was the only begotten and beloved son of the father, John 3:16 “…That He gave us the only begotten son…” Matthew 3:17 this is my beloved son, in whom I am well pleased… however, after His resurrection and accession “every one that has come to believe in Him becomes a beloved child of God.

2.   A BLESSED LIVING HOPE
Blessed living hope

Every Religion has its various promises on the possibilities of living in paradise or having eternal life.
Many of which are a hope that can only be received through the undertaking of various religious laws and works.
Failure to therefore act obediently to the dictates of religious law connotes everlasting condemnation.

However, the Christians faith promises a much greater and distinctive hope which was established in Christ, through the Grace of God.
“A living hope”; A living hope is that hope that never dies or expires, a hope that will always be established.

The Christian Hope is a living hope for reasons being that:

a. It was promised and given by God
Titus 1:2 In hope of eternal life which God, who cannot lie, promised before time began,

b. It promises an incorruptible inheritance
1 perter 1 : 3-4
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
4 to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you,

c. Testified to by Christ and the Apostles; John, Peter, Titus etc.
John 11:25
25 Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live.
1 John 5:11-13
11 And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son.
12 He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.
13 These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God.

In Christ Jesus do we then have a living Hope, We shouldn’t therefore live our lives with the fear of the rapture or having the mindset of the possibilities of going to hell, for in Christ have we been justified, not condemned nor judged.

3.    PARTAKERS OF THE DIVINE NATURE

Partakers of divine nature

2 Peter 1:3-4
3 …as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue,
4 by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

In Christ Jesus, we are not whom we used to be, we are a different class of men; our old nature is gone, we have a new nature which is not carnal, but divine through the working of the Holy Spirit; A god like nature, a supernatural and spiritual class of being.

2 Corinthians 5:17
17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.

By the power of His divine nature in us, we are a class of men that:
  • Are seated with Christ in the heavenly places; Ephesians 2:6; by the working if His mighty power in us. We are therefore in the place and position of authority and power.
  • We are no longer the likes of men that lives on luck and chances; rather, we command things to happen by the working of Gods faith in us.
  • That heals the sick, and cast out demons by faith and without any iota of fear.
  • The way we see things are different now: we see things from the spiritual perspectives or through the eyes of faith. 2 Corinthians 4:18.

4. ABUNDANCE OF GRACE AND THE GIFT OF RIGTHEOUSNESS
John 1:16 And of His fullness we have all received, and grace for grace
Romans 5: 17 For if by the one man's offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.)
The Christian life is a life without measure or limitations; this is because it is a life full of grace.
Grace has dimensions James 4:6; Not only are we saved and made righteous through the working of the grace of God, but we have grace greater down our sins (for forgiveness), grace to do exploit in Christ, Grace to heal, and cast out demons, grace for greater opportunities etc.
2 Corinthians 5:21  For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
Righteous are we made; we who are once sinners. Not because we work, or fulfill the law, but by Grace.

5. THE GIFT OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
Galatians 4:6 And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, "Abba, Father!"
Ephesians 1:13 In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise,

According to Acts 10:38; it is not ambiguous to say that without the presence of the Holy Spirit in Jesus, He wouldn’t have made much impact and of course successfully carry out the fathers mandate on earth. “... He went about doing good…”

Therefore, to such and one that has acknowledged the presence and the working of the Holy Spirit and subjectively surrendered to the dictates and the leading of the Spirit would the life of Christ worth living, life in the Spirit becomes life with endless possibilities.
The presence of the Holy Spirit in the life of a believer necessitates the following virtues;
The enablement of the fruits of the Spirit, the gifts of the Spirit, Quickened mortal bodies, the love and peace of God, wisdom, knowledge and understanding etc.
All these and many more are the benefit inherent in the life of a believer that has come to the knowledge of the indwelling Spirit of God in him.

6. FELLOWSHIP/ COMMUNION WITH GOD

Fellowship with God

The Christian life consists not in all else, but in a perpetual fellowship with God the Father.

1 Corinthians 1:9 God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.
The fall of man brings about the truncation of the presumed eternal relationship and communion between man and God. “Genesis 3:23 therefore the LORD God sent him out of the garden of Eden to till the ground from which he was taken”. Without any theological analogy, I shall rightly state that; God send them out of His presence. For Eden is a place of the presence, a place where continual fellowship and communion with God can best be actualized.
The Fellowship and communion that was truncated in the Garden of Eden has through the Grace of God been restored in His son Jesus Christ.
Mark 15:38 Then the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom.
For this very purpose the apostle can rightly say that “we should approach the throne of Grace…” Hebrew 4:16.
Therefore, as Christians, we had been restored back to the light of a perpetual relationship (Fellowship and Communion), the kind the father seek. We have every access to God, we can now pray and talk to God directly, we can easily hear Him even as he commune with us. Praise God.

7. THE GIFT OF THE WORD

2 Timothy 3:16-17 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.
Little did we recognise of the great blessing that the word of God performs in our life on daily basis. The Scripture is the only source of Authority for the Christians; it surpasses intellect, reasoning, logic, and the traditions of men etc.
It is through the Word that we act, live, and have our being as Christians. Among many other things the word; illuminates, encourages, saves, brings success, increase our faith, enlightens, gives wisdom, knowledge and understanding, gives revelations knowledge etc.
So the best we can do as Christian is to hold on to the word, study the word, and act accordingly. 1 Peter 2:2 as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby,.

8. The few stated blessings above, the gift of faith, Joy Divine, healing, deliverance, casting out of demons, success prosperity, edification, sanctification, justification, ministerial gifts and many more are the blessedness of being a child of God.

Conclusively, too great preoccupation will it be, if we should continue to analyze the blessing therein in being a child of God, for they are too numerous that one will always loose count.
This is therefore a call unto Christians to live up to the expectation of God for their life, discover their identity, work and walk towards living the glorious and beautiful life that has been made available in Christ through the Grace of God the Father.
